EXP IndieCast #2: Stargazing with Jason Rohrer

We had such a good time on last week's IndieCast that we decided to do double up! This week, we welcome game designer Jason Rohrer to the show. Jason is the creator of a host of games, including such well-known titles as Passage and Sleep is Death. Most recently, he released Inside a Star-filled Sky, a top-down shooter that combines classic arcade dynamics with innovative approaches to procedural level generation and unique social aspects. Jason and his games are always thought-provoking, so Jorge and I were delighted to get the opportunity to chat with him. We cover everything from Picasso to Spelunky and even manage to touch upon lunar exploration. We hope you enjoy the show!

  1. Great 'cast! I'll give "Sky" a try then. I'd love to hear you guys talk about The Dream Machine. It's made out of cardboard & clay, literally! Now, you can't wet your monitor and swipe red warpaint across your face, but all the character models and environments are hand-crafted. Thanks! http://www.thedreammachine.se/

  2. Thanks Tom. I'd like to try Dream Machine myself. Though no promises it will make an appearance on the 'cast. I don't think I realized how many amazing indie games were out there to be played.

  4. Isn't Dream Machine that device William S Burroughs experimented with?

Anyway, thanks hosting that interview. I've always wanted to hear Jason speak since I've been a fan of his work for awhile and it's always fascinating to listen to his thought process.

    You guys sounded fine, btw!
