EXP Podcast #282: Mario Kart 8 Debrief

The granddaddy of kart racing is back! Mario Kart 8 just made its triumphant return to the Wii U recently, and Scott and I got a chance to blast our way through a variety of tracks. Suffice it to say it made enough of an impression to fuel an entire podcast episode, which you can check out below.

And of course we want to hear from you. What do you think of Mario Kart 8? Does it replace your old favorite in the series?

  1. Some time ago (I think because of a Steam free-to-play weekend while the game was on sale) I picked up Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed and convinced some friends to do the same. I had read elsewhere that it was actually a very good cart racer, better than many Mario Kart games in many ways. I can't very well suggest you guys go out of your way to pick it up and try it (does anyone really need TWO carting games??), but thought I should put it on your radar since it did a lot of stuff before Mario Kart did (multiple types of vehicles with some customization, tracks with multiple splitting points, more room for skillful play, etc). Plus, you can race as Beat from Jet Set Radio against the Dwarf from Golden Axe and a trio from Team Fortress 2 on a track inspired by After Burner. Classic.

  2. You know what this means: we have to have a Super Smash Bros. Brawl kart racing game.
