EXP Podcast #284: Games Big and Small

The occasional strangeness of Valiant Hearts
We launch these podcasts every week, but still there is never enough time to touch on every game we play, even if they make an impression. This week on the EXP Podcast, Scott and I take some time out of our regular schedule to chat about a variety of games we've been playing lately, from one "fall" to another. Let us know how you've been spending your gaming hours in the comments below and if we share something on our dockets, please share your thoughts on the game as well!

  1. I'm also playing Pikmin and have the same complaints about the controls. Despite that, it's still a brilliant game. Working with multiple astronauts does add an interesting complexity, and I really love the sense of exploration.

Here's a tip, though: if you hold down ZL on a target, you can lock on. Once your target is set, press B to send your Pikmin charging at it. It's super effective, and while it doesn't quite make up for the loss of right-stick swarm control, it definitely helps.

  2. I've actually been experimenting with the Wii remote and nunchuk combo. It doesn't really solve the problem, but a quick shake of the control activates the charge, making it slightly less awkward. Still, I really miss my swarm control!
