EXP Podcast #325: The Guitar Hero Live Reunion Tour

Who wouldn't want to spend 12 hours on a bus with this guy?
My my, hey hey.  Rhythm games are here to stay.  It's better to burn out than to gather dust...if you're a plastic guitar that is.  Yes, after years in hibernation, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are back on stage.  Will that lead Jorge and me back to the altar of rock?  Have our dreams of virtual superstardom faded away like so many missed notes scrolling into infinity?  Fire up the virtual record player and find out.

  1. I feel like the novelty value is gone, and with it the "cool" factor. I think people enjoy trying new things and showing other people things they haven't experienced before. Imagine trying that with a new guitar hero game. "Check out this cool game, you use a guitar to...oh...you've seen it before...not impressed?"

  2. Great point on the novelty factor. I bet that's what they were thinking when they decided to go the FMV rout: "What can we show people that they haven't seen before?" Unless you are a big Night Trap fan, it's probably still pretty novel to interact with something that looks "live action."
